Parson's Trail #144 - Sycamore Canyon Wilderness (Cottonwood Area)

Description: This lush riparian forest consists primarily of cottonwoods, Arizona ash, walnut, willows, box elder, grape, and the namesake sycamores contrast with the reds and oranges of the canyon walls. While there are rocky stretches that may take some effort, for the most part, this route is a pleasant stroll with lots of shade in the first couple of miles. The trail crosses the riverbed just before reaching the "swimming hole" where deep waters go right up against a tall red cliff. The trail will continue along the stream and will criss-cross a total of 6 times before reaching Parson's Spring. http://www.hikemasters.com/2009/11/parsons-spring-at-sycamore-canyon.html

I really enjoyed my first hike with this group! Everyone was friendly, and good company. Kathy is very knowledgeable, and I appreciate that in a leader. She's also a brave driver, willing to cruise through swift creeks! Parson's Trail is really pretty, with LOTS of water, a great riperian forest, and cool geology. We took and posted some neat photos......I hope people check 'em out.

This has got to be the most exciting event I have hosted. Pouring rain, lightning and thunder, wading the trail most of the way back to the car. Splashing and slip sliding on the road out.....
Everyone was a hot muddy mess :) but had a good attitude. Fun and exciting time. Thanks all who made it happen:)
