Description: We will be hiking and geo-hunting in a 21,000-acre park nestled in the lower Verde River basin - McDowell Mountain Regional Park. Geocaching is a treasure hunting game where you use GPS coordinates and clues to find containers hidden by others. For more information visit geocaching.com. We will be starting out on the Pemberton Trail to the Scenic Trail for a clockwise loop. The total length will be about 4 miles - please know your children's limits. The park has given someone the permission to hide geocaches all along the trail. We will not be finding all of them but will try to find one about every quarter of a mile for a total of about 8 treasure hunts. You can bring your GPS or you can download a free app on your phone: "geocaching Intro". After our day of hiking and geocaching, we can get a late lunch in Fountain Hills.
