Next weekend, beat the heat with cool climates and cold ?beverages? in the Flagstaff area. Friday-Sunday (July 16-18) is a hunt for a crashed WWII B-18 bomber followed by the 8th Annual Pub Crawl in the Pines. To make for a relaxed trip, we?ll stay in Flagstaff Friday and Saturday night. For lodging, we will be staying at the Highland Country Inn again. It has worked well in the past and only a short crawling distance from the pubs. I already reserved 3 rooms with two beds each. The rooms are $80 a night. We?ll split them up in a way that everyone is comfortable with. In the past, some people brought sleeping bags for the floor to save costs and others have opted for their own room. Let me know if you have a preference.
Saturday morning, we?ll hunt for the wreckage of the B-18 bomber that crashed into the San Francisco Peaks back in 1941. It will be a hike of mystery and adventure. The mystery: I only have a vague idea where the wreckage is. The adventure: the hiking will be all off-trail. We?ll be hiking up a ski route most of the way and then cross country. Hopefully, we?ll find wreckage. If not, it will still be a great hike with some fantastic views. Either way, we?ll have reason to celebrate.
After the hike, we?ll return to the hotel to shower and change. At 7pm, it?s off to downtown Flagstaff for the pub crawl. The plan is to meet at Beaver Street Brewery, hit some more pubs then ?crawl? back to the hotel. We?ll return Sunday.
If you want endure the pub crawl, I am asking for commitments by Tuesday so I can finalize the hotel rooms. However, the sooner you can let me know the better. Arrangements can also be made if you want to meet up with us at any point. If you have any questions, please contact me.
