Great Falls & Riverbend Parks.

  • Jun 24, 2012 · 9:00 AM

An approx 10-mile, moderately paced, loop hike (moderate, 2.9 blisters) of both parks that includes great views of the Great Falls, Mather Gorge, and the quiet version of the Potomac. We’ll examine the curious remains of the Patowmack Canal and ponder area life in olden times. Hike covers part of the Potomac Heritage Trail, and includes a little bit of bushwhacking.

Meet at Riverbend Park Visitor Center (at end of Potomac Hills St, http://tinyurl.com/7s9w424) parking lot at 9 am; for Metro pick-up, contact Mike. Bring lunch and water.

I hiked with someone last weekend with another group that may want to attend this hike. I am not sure if he knows how to RSVP through meetup. Is it okay if he attends without reserving? He moved here recently from China.

Yes, I will probably do this hike again in the near future. Email me directly if you want me to send you a list of the trails.

Yes, well behaved, gentle, canines on leash that are used to this distance and heat are OK.
