We’ll stay at PATC’s Schairer Trail Center, adjacent to Shenandoah National Park, VA. We will do moderate (about 2-3.5 blisters) day hikes from the cabins and you can sit out any hike. Hiking highlights include the great trails of the south section of SNP, complete with waterfalls and overlooked overlooks, and fabulous fall colors in stunning views. There is a beautiful view of the valley and adjacent mountains from the cabin itself.
Here’s the good part: The cabin comes with no electricity, no wifi, no electricity, no (unnaturally) running water, a privy, wood-burning stove and fireplace, and lousy or no cell reception. There are bunk beds with pads, so you’ll need a sleeping bag or bedding.
The trip is limited to about 10 people who reserve & pay in advance. (Contact me directly to reserve at [masked].) The lodging cost is $25, which includes one communal dinner and more. Complete info on what to bring, carpooling, and the agenda will be sent to those going.
