We are on a lucky streak with the weather here—it looks very good for the third weekend in a row! So, to avoid the fever, make sure you come out of your cabin on Saturday (Jan 7). We’ll be going on a leisurely, out-and-back trek of about 6.481 miles (Ah, GSPs!) through the woods of the Bull Run Occoquan Trail (BROT). That translates into a fairly easy hike of 2 blisters. The BROT is one of the Washington DC area's best kept secrets with wonderful winter views of the Occoquan River. We will stop to take notice of green plants (i.e., smell the proverbial roses) often passed by during the winter months.
Wear sturdy shoes with good ankle support because of rocks and roots on the trail. Bring snacks/lunch as we will be stopping at a stream at our turnaround point. Meet at 10 am (a little later than starting work) at the Vienna Metro station’s North Parking Lot. Leaders are Brian Shermeyer [masked] or [address removed]) and me.
Here are the pix from our last two holiday (Xmas & NuYr’s) hikes:
Happy Still-Pretty-New Year!
