I was browsing Unity's website and saw this new movie made with Unity4. Check out the explosion at 2:30 of the video. Pretty sweet.

Learned some new things about explosions, looking forward to using detonator. I enjoyed the experience.

Excellent!!! Superb presentations! Well thought out and an open spirit in sharing knowledge. TY Phil for putting this group together. I found it truly inspiring!

  • Sammy Hajeer

good, but I do agree that more discussion might be nice. Maybe a hands on example would be useful. I recall someone asking before hand if there were any material for the presentation and I think if we had had a link to the detonator on the asset store we could have played around with it and had more specific questions. might be something to consider for next time.

  • MrPhil

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I think in the future I'll plan for the last 45 of the meeting to be a discussion.

    February 20

  • Ben

Good information, lots of great resources for Unity questions.

    February 20

  • Sam Levine

I'll throw in an extra vote for more networking/discussion segments, though I also really liked the rapid presentation format of the first meeting.

  • Craig Stevenson

Had a great time at the meeting. Would have liked to have more time to just meet and talk with everyone. Is there a way to include some networking time into the next one?

    February 20

  • Joshua Turcotte

Quite good, quite good... interesting to see MVC applied to all this; makes for a good bridge between my software/web dev dayjob and climbing the unity learning curve

    February 20

  • Alec

I enjoyed the tips and tricks and info loot, thanks for the group! looking forward to the next one.

    February 20

  • Kevin Brown

Picked up quite a few tips from others experiences.

It was alright but a bit dull, except for the Wiimote presentation. Perhaps next time we could have less lecture format and more discussion? I'd like to have more discussion focusing on what problems people are having in Unity or maybe people getting feedback on what they are trying to do.

Is there anything we can download or look at before hand?

    February 18

    • Sam Levine

Sorry for the delay, but I've put up my hastily-assembled slides here:

Most of the explosions section of tonight's meeting should be ad-lib discussion and live presentation in Unity, though, assuming no technical difficulties.

      February 19

    • MrPhil

      Awesome! Impressive turn around time!

      February 19

  • Tariq Lateef

My +2 Guests are no longer coming. This space can be given to others that may be on the waiting list. I will be coming alone.

    February 19

  • Craig Stevenson

I also will be coming alone but the form won't let ne remove my + 2.

    February 19

    • MrPhil

No worries, everyone that wanted in got in.

      February 19

  • RMKD

Gotta bow out too - sched is just too packed this week

    February 19

  • Terry TW

Changed my rsvp, which means someone lucky on the list can go. See ya next time!

    February 18

  • Ryan H

    Any thought on topics?

    January 25

    • Mike

No, i am not looking for a meeting that has nothing to do with unity... I was simply adding to the last part of your first sentence in the "about us" section above which is 'game development'. Unless you feel "establish ideas concepts and strengthening local gaming industry" does not fall under game development....

      February 18

    • MrPhil

Yeah, okay, I don't think everything we do has to be about Unity3D. Why don't you email me more about what you want to do and we can make it part of our next meeting.

      February 18

  • amy

looks like I'll be working after all

    February 18

  • Alec

I'd love to be there, I hope a spot opens up!

    February 18

    • MrPhil

I went ahead and bumped the size limit, so should get in.

      February 18

    • Alec

Hey thanks MrPhil, looking forward to it

      February 18

  • Matthew Mauriello

Freeing up the space for another; Next time!

    February 18

  • Jerry M.

Been looking forward to this for a long time. Hoping we can share XP and collaborate together. I've developed some serious games past and present.

    January 28

  • Matthew Mauriello

There should be a maybe option as the distance for us western DC area folks could be prohibitive; have to check my class schedule closer to the date. Looking forward to see the agenda/itinerary.

    January 24

    • Aaron Light

DC is super far for me; I live all the way in Sterling and nowhere near a metro station.

      January 25

    • MrPhil

I think we'll end up having to rotate around to different parts of the area. If you want a meeting close to you, you can help make that happen by scouting venues.

      January 25

  • Pramod Kumar

I am not so strong in programming, so is there any problem because of this

    January 25

    • MrPhil

Not at all, everyone is welcome including new programmers, non-programmers and artists.

      January 25

  • Kevin Brown

If looking for content, I can present work I've done on a destroyer/sub simulation game. Nothing fancy.

    January 24

  • Tariq Lateef

Looking forward to coming and sharing ideas!

    January 24

  • Craig Stevenson

    Team Jibberish will be there.
