Hello my DC unity friends, just wanted to let you all know that I published Alien Checkers to the Amazon Market, just search Alien Checkers on Amazon and it's the second search result, the game is a dollar, if you buy it, I'll buy you a drink at the next meetup! Cheers :)

It was nice to meet fellow game developer in my area, great meetup. Thanks to everyone go tried my first (space shooter) game in the works: Offensive Rising and thanks for the feedback. If you did not get a chance to try it, I'll ask you next time. In addition, I look forward to playing your games and to give you feedback.

So mad I missed it. Was the audio stuff in asset store or still in dev. How approachable are the 2d tools?

    November 19, 2013

    • Rod

vsRealSpace3D is not currently in the Asset Store. We are currently still in development to have our product to be the best it can be, so we are upgrading to our newer engine. We should be there soon. Stay tuned...

Okay, just kidding...Carl was awesome!! Thank you all for allowing up to participate in last night's MEETUP. It was a pleasure to spend time with you and thank you for allowing us to demonstrate our 3D plug in. We'll work with Andy to set up a follow on meeting to this and dig a little deeper on the plugin as well as provide a FREE license to those that have interest. See you soon...

Excellent meeting, and agree that Carl is a really good presenter, and thoroughly enjoyed his demos. VisiSonics was pretty cool, too. Hope to see this kind of turnout at future meetings.

  • Rod

Thanks to Andrew for hosting a great Meetup. Carl's demonstration of Unity 4.3/2D continues my belief that Unity is the best gaming engine around, and they continue to make things easy and elegant.

I enjoyed meeting up with the people I did meet, and I want to thank Andrew again for allowing VisiSonics to demonstrate our technology as well.

Carl from Unity was awesome. The VisiSonics team enjoyed presenting our demos ... Look forward to interacting further with you all.

Great presentations! Very informative, excellent new 2D workflow demo, really nice location and the 3D sound plug-in was intriguing. And it's next door to the bar. Well done.

    November 18, 2013

    • Andrew E.

There will not be an open bar. Unfortunately, this group is a bit too new to have funding like that.

I just found this other great group if anyone is interested, I know I am and will definitely attend: http://www.meetup.com/DC-Windows-App-Developers/events/138819372/

  • Barry Z.

This is the first time that I'll be attending a meet-up like this. What is the setup like? Will there be a presentation? Will there be demos? I am really interested in seeing the 2D features in Unity for our simulation work, would that be available to see? Or will it be an open discussion? I have a long drive to get there, I just want to be prepared and get the most out of my time. Any additional info would be appreciated.

Good question, since this is also my first time and I'm also driving from Northern VA.

I moved the venue down the street to a location that can hold presentations. There will be sitting room for up to 70 and standing room beyond that. Also, this venue should be all ages (the after hangout at the bar will be 21+)

I loved the last event. I love the chance to hear about unity 4.3. I think church key is a terrible venue for anything other than informal discussions.

Both Ron Haxton and I of Visisonics look forward to the November 18th meet up. We are working for a spin out of the University of Maryland's Computer Science department of which Ron has created a 3D Audio plug in for the unity gaming engine. It's a windows based "beta" demonstration which works with FMOD...would love to get the feedback from any interested members.

There are some great deals in the asset store for the next couple of weeks (Unity B-Day Specials). Are there any you highly recommend?
Carl - I am very interested in seeing more optimization techniques. That sounds excellent.
