Have You Heard the Rumor ...

...about the possibility of a new cohousing community in Takoma Park, Maryland?

IMAGINE … an energy-efficient, green and sustainable community walking distance to the Takoma Red Line metro …

• affordable …

• diverse …

• urban …

IMAGINE … being a part of bringing this new possibility to life …

EcoHousing Corporation, developer of Takoma Village in Washington, DC and Eastern Village, in Silver Spring, Maryland is proposing a new cohousing community on a site owned by The City of Takoma Park, Maryland.

The City is currently soliciting proposals for developing the surface parking lot located to the west of the Takoma Park-Silver Spring Coop.

EcoHousing, one of several developers submitting proposals for the site, envisions a mixed-use development consisting of commercial/retail on the ground floor with 36-40 units of cohousing on the 3rd and 4th floors. As with its first two cohousing communities, the building will be energy-efficient, green, and sustainable. The site is walkable to the Takoma Red Line metro along with frequent Ride-On bus service. And, of course, the biggest draw: it’s cohousing in funky, “Azalea City” Takoma Park!

The developers, Don Tucker and Bruce Levin, are interested in meeting you and finding out if there is a viable contingent of folks who want to live in cohousing at this location.

Want to learn more?

Come to the first of two information sessions on Sunday, May 4th, 3-5 p.m. The developers will have visuals available. You will have an opportunity to ask questions, meet other community-minded folks and discuss how this new community could be brought into being.

The information session is FREE. Light refreshments served. Sign up right here on the Meet Up.

Questions? Email: [masked]

Bring friends, relatives, co-workers … all welcome!

NOTE:  both the May 4th and May 10th sessions will cover the same information.  You only need to attend one session.

If you cannot attend either meeting but want to be kept informed about the progress of Takoma Junction please send your contact information including First and Last names, phone numbers and email address(es).  We're creating a database specifically for TJC -- we'll add you to the database and happily keep you up to date!

Hey all. Check out Meditation Friendly Cohousing as well which is on this meet up site. We are forming a cohousing community that supports and encourages meditation.

I'm interested in learning more but will be away 5/10. Will the site be in Alexandria? Thanks

I just noticed that this new community will be in MD. I need to stay in DC right now. I'll probably still come to the meeting anyway, since I haven't been to one in a while.
