What does freeganism mean to you?

I grew up in a small upstate NY town where this was just the way things were. Stores put sales on anything that was about to go bad and the night before donated any unsold stuff. Farmers would allow you to pick anything their machines missed. It only makes sense. What it means to me is a way to reduce my own waste by consuming others' "waste."

I moved to the city area a couple years back from a rural town in NY. I like the City, hate the traffic, and am just looking for the best ways to enrich my life.
