Intro to Nature and Landscape Photography: Cherry Blossoms at the Tidal Basin

During this session, I will introduce you to digital SLR photography before we capture the sunrise of cherry blossoms at the Tidal Basin!

Topics will include:
1) Introduction to photography theory
2) Introduction to the camera
3) Basic shooting techniques
4) Practice in the field!

What you will need to bring:

1) A digital SLR camera (not a hard requirement; any camera will do) and lenses
2) A tripod (if you have one)
3) Flashlight
4) Water

Why sunrise? I talked about it a few months ago here: http://www.meetup.com/Washington-DC-Metro-Landscape-Fine-Art-Photography/messages/boards/thread/27984172

I will keep the amount of participants limited such to provide ample opportunity for all to learn.

I require pre-payment to limit no-shows. Your payment will be refunded if you indicate you will not come 48 hours before the start of the session.

Thanks and hope to see you there! If there's one meetup you come to, make it this one!

    Thanks, Brian!

I'll also mention (as I did to Tina) Adobe Photoshop CS2 is free but not exactly easy to use. Lightroom and Aperture are easier but are at cost. Your camera comes with RAW software that should be somewhere in the middle in ease of use, and free.

    Here's a link to CS2: http://www.adobe.com/downloads/cs2_downloads/index.html

THANKS everyone for posting and for leaving comments :) I encourage any constructive criticism on my workshops as well. Also I usually post an image from a meetup on the main gallery if you're interested: http://www.meetup.com/Washington-DC-Metro-Landscape-Fine-Art-Photography/photos/8318022/120460862/#[masked]

    Talk to you soon!

For those that are looking for economical photo processing, Adobe Lightroom may be a solution for you. Here is a link to another meetup group that is hosting some training.

Great workshop with Navin. I look forward to more. Learned about shooting RAW, and practiced with the shutter speed/F-stop in regards to sunrise shots.

Here's a link to the nps. I believe we can park on Ohio Drive near the memorial.

Hey, Navin - is there a specific landmark we're meeting at? The memorial is kind of big.

I have never been to the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial. Is there a place to park? I was looking at it on google maps and it doesn't look like there is aplace to park.
