Advanced Nature & Landscape Photography: Cherry Blossoms at the Tidal Basin

During this session, I will guide you at the Tidal Basin, where we can capture the sunrise using some advanced photographic techniques.

Topics will include:
1) Planning for and capturing multiple exposures for

a) dynamic range

b) depth of field

c) panorama or perspective

3) Best practices for planning & preparation to capture stunning sunrise shots

4) Practice in the field!

PLEASE NOTE: You WILL have had to take an intro course with me or another instructor before taking this workshop. This is NOT a beginner's class, and will assume you know basics to advanced techniques in landscape photography. Please contact me if you're unsure of your level in relation to this class.

What you will need to bring:

1) A digital SLR camera
2) A tripod (requirement)
3) Cable release (semi-hard requirement)
4) Water and bug spray

Your payment will be refunded if you indicate you will not come 48 hours before the start of the session. We generally will shoot, rain or shine. The best images are made that way. In the case of severe weather, we will postpone certain meet ups.

Hi, I am part of a local photography club that conducts a monthly competition with feedback from judges, and informative speakers. Would it be mutually beneficial to your members if you posted a meetup about our meetings and events? It would help your members learn about photography and help our meetings by getting broader participation without interfering with each other.

The Vienna Photographic Society’s website is http://vps-va.visualpursuits.com/ Our calendar show upcoming events.

    The judge is Mark Finkenstaedt

This event will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2014
The event will run from 7:30 PM - 9:29 PM

Navin is a great instructor, he discussed each topic through the fundamental concepts. Very concise and well organized. I only wish the basin was not so crowded with other photogs, but this is to be expected. It would be worth meeting earlier or in a separate session to prepare without distractions (I was a little late arriving and the meet had not started yet, but I may have contributed to a compressed schedule, if so sorry). I would definitely meetup with Navin again. Dave

Hi Dave! Thanks for your response. You're right that a pre-session could work better. Perhaps for non-sunrise shoots, that will work. Thanks for your feedback :)

I completely agree with Dave's assessment.

It was great. Navin is very organized and excellent instructor. I wish there would be less people at the location but alas the meeting location has been dicovered by a lot of folks.
