EU Open House Meetup

  • Do you like European countries?
  • Do you like to visit embassies?
  • Do you like visiting embassies of European countries?

If you answer yes to one or all of these questions, this is the meetup for you. It's pretty much the same deal as the Around the World Embassy Tour the week before, but now it's the EU's turn. Sample on some free food + drinks(some alcoholic, bring your ID), get free stuff, check out the buildings, expand your mind + learn about new cultures, and hangout with your fellow DC Redditors(We're a fun bunch to be with, scout's honor). For more information about the event and the embassies participating, you can visit the EU Open Site found here: http://www.euopenhouse.org/

If people are up for it after the event, we can find a place to chillax and socialize. As always, if you have any suggestions, put 'em down on the comments section.

See you there ^_^

I just received some protips: Portugal was fantastic last year and Ireland will probably have beer samples.

So based off the results from the 9 people who've taken the poll so far, the top 3 are the following:

    1) Embassy of Italy
    2) Embassy of Beligum
    3) 3-way tie of British Embassy, Embassy of Sweden, Embassy of Ireland

Since the top 2 are a couple blocks away from each other and I'm pretty sure the line is going to be massive before 10 AM, we should aim to meet up near the Embassy of Italy around 9:15. The address to the embassy is: 3000 Whitehaven Street, N.W. Washington, DC 20008.

I'll have my phone on me at all times, so feel free to give me a call if any issues come up[masked]). See you all manana :D

    Hey all,

    Two updates:

    1) I placed the correct site with all the information on the EU Open House in the event description. In addition since I got PMs about this, the event is indeed is this Saturday the 11th(I know the old site had it on last year's date, May 12th)

    2) I've created a quick ranking survey to gauge what embassies that you are most interested in seeing. Please take the time to take as I'll use it to coordinate the planning for the event. I'll take a look at the results on Friday and from there, will plan out where to meet up on Saturday http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/KPJR35W

Um, ok, so it looks like Meetup is truncating the URL so you can't click on it. It's goo.gl /maps/9zq5v (remove the space)

      Thanks Melanie for ze map.

I have to agree on Bladen on the Germany/France embassy. I went there last year and left unimpressed. Plus I would love to check out the British and Italian embassies since I missed them last year and I heard good things about them.
