National Mall Scavenger Hunt 2.0!

National Mall Scavenger Hunt 2.0

We have the technology. We have made it better, stronger, faster. Hold onto your hats kiddos and be sure to kiss your momma goodbye, because it's time for National Mall Scavenger Hunt v2.0!

The format remains the same. Attendees will be broken up into multiple teams who will then have two and a half hours to solve as many riddles, clues, and quirky challenges as possible. Each answer will need to have a cellphone photograph that includes at least one team member sent via text to the hunt master for approval. At the end of the two and a half hours, the team with the most correct answers wins.

The hunt boundaries will be within the National Mall area and will be primarily indoors. No need to worry about catching hypothermia, unless of course if it's an answer to a question, in which case it all comes down to how badly you want to win.

So, do you know D.C? Are you an evil mastermind who is up for a challenge? Sign up and find out!

Winners receive the undying admiration of their fellow plebeians and an unnamed but awesome prize declaring your superiority.

-- MEETUP INFORMATION --

My contact number is (301) 758-1144. Do not hesitate to ask me questions.

We will meet up inside the Smithsonian Castle (that giant red brick building that looks like a castle). There is a diorama of Washington D.C right in the center of the building that we can congregate around.

METRO: The closest Metro Stop is Smithsonian/National Mall, however Chinatown/Gallery Place and Metro Center put you within reasonable walking distance.

The event takes place rain or shine since most of the hunt is indoors.

I'm expecting a lot of random and potentially embarrassing photos of myself to be posted.

Metro shut down the bridge on the yellow line between Pentagon and L'Enfant. Taking the long way around.

If you intend on joining us afterward for food and drinks at Gordon Biersch in Chinatown, please reply to this comment so I can get a headcount to make a reservation. Thanks in advance, and I look forward to seeing everybody on Saturday!

Be sure to make note of the metro delays this weekend, track work is being performed and the following stations are closed:

Glenmont, Wheaton, Forest Glen, Silver Spring, Takoma

If you normally take those stations to get downtown, please make alternate plans.

Also, if you haven't already, reply to the comment below if you wish to join us afterward for drinks and food at Gordon Biersch. I'm sure the restaurant would appreciate if I gave them a heads up how many of us will be showing up.

I'm sure they will be running shuttles at those stations, but add an additional 30 minutes to account for them being slow.

Final heads up that the Metro has delays and there are station closures. If you send me a text saying "zomg, the metro is delayed, I'll be late", I shall have no sympathy. No sympathy I say! Herumph!

Ho.this is late, but please come me in for dinner!

What time are we planning on getting to the food and drink after the scavenger hunt?

    December 7, 2012

    • Bladen

It depends on when the hunt gets underway. My guess is we'll end up at Gordon Biersch around 4:30 or 5 p.m. But, that's not a guarantee.

Teams are random but you can pre make a team of two and have random people fill in until it balances out. It is a good early activity for or a post activity for a date. So long as your date like scavenger hunts and bad puns.
