OPEN CALL! "Urban Exposure" Photography Exhibit at the Carriage House

"We took a walk for a few minutes together. The street became his photographs." - Bruce Davidson on Henri Cartier-Bresson

"There are things hidden for all the world until photographed." - Craig Coverdale

"Wander aimlessly most of the time" - Melanie Einzig

Calling all street and urban landscape photographers in the Washington DC / Baltimore area!

You are invited to submit your work for our next Street Photography and Urban Landscape Exhibit!

It's an excellent chance to get your photography out there, as well as network with other people involved in DC arts' scene.

Inspired by the changing urban landscape of our capital, the rebirth of such neighborhoods in DC, the charm and beauty of Baltimore, we ask local photographers to pull out the images that reflect this transformation.

Reportage, street portraits, social documentary, abstract cityscape - all genres are welcomed!

ROLLING SUBMISSIONS: We will accept submissions until we have the work of 25 PHOTOGRAPHERS!

At that point, the submission period will close, and the images submitted will given to our judges to be evaluated based both on creative and technical ability. The judges will select 25 - 30 images to be exhibited. We will announce the exhibit and have the Opening Reception approximately 1 month later, as part of our Monthly Open House events, so photographers and art collectors from about the DC/MD/VA area will see your work!

Submission Requirements: Deadline: The OPEN CALL is for all legal residents of Maryland, Virginia and District of Columbia, 18 years and older.

Please send up to 5 images (jpeg, 1200 pixels x 1200 pixels max) to [masked] along with the titles and your contact info (name, address, e-mail, phone number).

The submission fee is $25 and you can pay by using the RSVP link for this event (go to the Carriage House Studio Calendar for Dec 1, 2011 - you can see who else has submitted images!). If chosen, you will be asked to upload the original file to our server. Please, keep in mind that your image should be at least 16x20 inches at 300 ppi but no larger than 40x50 inches at 300 ppi.

The Carriage House Studio and Gallery will handle all printing and installation. We do not accept any mail-in submissions. Your submission fee will be credited towards the cost of the print for the show made on our Epson 9900 printer ($75 for a 40''x30'' photograph). After the show is over, you can keep the print! If you can't pick it up, we will mail it to you within two weeks (the artist pays shipping charges).

We produced a Catalog of our 2010 exhibits which we are currently publishing, including 30 great photographs from 15 photographers who showed their work in our 2010 exhibition series. If you are selected for this or any other upcoming shows during 2011, you will get a chance to compete for a place in "the best of the best" DC Foto Week gallery show at the Carriage House.

We are also promoting the work of photographers whose work has been exhibited at the Carriage House for display in coffee shops, restaurants, bars, and other locations in the DC Metro area. All work will be judged by the current members of DC Photo Cooperative and Carriage House staff and invited jurors.

To inquire about facilities, equipment, studio rentals and membership, please send a letter of interest to [masked]

Good luck! Paulo
