I love neighborhood bars and good beer. I have my go-to favorites but need to branch out -- check out new bars, try new beers and meet new people.
Well, my favorite beers are German wheat beers (Weihenstephaner, Schneider Weisse...). They taste great and are fun to say. I generally prefer malty brews over hoppy. I do not like IPAs. I love trying local beers I've never heard of when I travel.
Outings to great beer bars (so many new places are opening!), beer tastings, maybe beer dinners. I like the idea of a BYOB event.
I am a history nerd from Boston. In addition to beer I like drinking coffee while rooting for the Patriots on Sunday afternoons.

Lauren,
I just became the Organizer. I have not read the book for the Sunday, June 12 meeting. It appears that you are attending. I can attend if you think it worthwhile. Please let me know what you think. If I do attend I would need to know the closest metro to the site you selected. Steven Greenspan [masked]
Lauren,
I can't speak for Eric's choices but I look at 3 things when I'm picking a book for my meetups
1) Suggestions from those attending the book club events (this is most important since those who actually come get more input on what we read)
2) what I might like to read
3) what people have suggested online
Sometimes those all related to the same book, sometimes not. I do always look at what gets suggested though.
