Anyone interested in playing in or GMing/DMing/Keeping/etc... a one shot/one off game or a monthly campaign or shared world building campaign, please read and respond!!!
Despite delays, I have found a venue to host a monthly gaming event. I would use Micro-con but I think Will has a copyright on that ;)
Anyway, the first one will be Saturday, December 15th from 12pm-5pm in room A10 of the Martin Luther King Library in Washington DC.
Why here? Well, all the metro lines have stops within 2 blocks of the Library. It has street and garage parking. We can expand up to 150 people. Its free. And uh... its free. It certainly has a big drawback... time. We are restricted by Library hours. But... I've spent time over the last month and a half looking at all possible sites to hold these events. And when I say all possible sites in NoVa and DC I really mean just about ALL possible sites to the point I now consider myself a foremost expert on rental sites in the DC area ;) Fairfax county RECenters cost money. The Arlington Libraries refused to allow us to use their meeting rooms because our groups "don't provide education or benefit to the general public". The Fairfax county and most of the Maryland libraries have limited parking and are not near metro stops. Hotels... yeah they're nice. And the event could be catered. And everyone would have to pony up about $35 per person to cover the expense. Something tells me that would be a big "no".
Why not sooner? Well, I'm all booked up in October and the library is all booked up in November except for the Saturday immediately after Thanksgiving and I'd imagine a whole lot of people will be either out of town or hosting family. Also, I want to give the GM's plenty of time to prepare.
Speaking of which...
The number of people that can attend is limited by the number of GMs willing to volunteer their time and creative energies. I would like about 8-10 GMs. This would mean we could accommodate about 40-50 players for this initial event. I know some of you have already told me you have no interest in one shots because you want character development and a continued storyline. I hope to have that covered with people running campaigns that will meet at these events.
So: Anyone interested in running a one shot game, a monthly campaign, or a shared world/co-GM campaign, PLEASE respond. Any and all games are welcome. I don't care what you all run, let's just get some games set up.
Players: Hang in there. Once I have the GMs organized, you all can RSVP and sign up.
