RPGala Update

Hi everyone, I hope you all enjoyed the holidays and are off to a great 2008. As most of you know we had our first RPGala back in December. It was a lot of fun and we had 4-5 hours of gaming. We had to go through a metal detector and there were some demented vagrants in the basement (or maybe those were just wandering gamers) but we all survived to have an enjoyable afternoon. I played 2nd Ed. D&D and killed an ogre while defeating some witches and telling some elves what's what.

So that pretty much makes me the strongest man alivecool. And the smartest because my 4th level fighter wasn't just about swinging a sword and severing heads.

If you missed it, we who were there were real sorry to miss you. And you missed out on some cool games.

We had a lot of great games put together by a bunch of outstanding GMs. I'd like to thank all of them for putting in the time and effort to run games. Without the GMs these events would be non-existent.

That brings me to just this one negative point on the day which I hate to have to bring up because everything was so positive. There were a number (10-12) people who RSVP'd "Yes" but didn't show up. As some of you may know, I'm a dentist by profession. Nothing ruins my calm like no-shows. I understand that some times emergencies occur, the boss calls you in to work, etc. BUT PLEASE in the future, if you RSVP "Yes", do everything in your power to attend.

Why? Because we had 2 GMs who put their time and effort into putting together games (instead of doing a million other things I'm sure they could have been doing) on the assumption that a certain number of people were going to be at the event. Instead, I had to cancel their games. It put me in a very awkward position and left some people rather disappointed. If the GMs feel like people aren't going to show up even when they said they would, they'll just stop GMing. And if we start to hemorrhage GMs both the RPGala and this Meetup itself are dead for sure. Let's be sure to keep that from happening!

Otherwise, it was a very good 1st event. The next RPGala is on Sunday, January 27th.
January RPGala
Yes, I know I said previously they would be on Saturdays. Unfortunately, for the months of January, February, and March, the library turns the meeting rooms over for income tax preparation, counseling, etc... on Saturdays. So for the next 3 months we are on Sundays. The games for this month will include: at least 2 D&D games, GURPS, d20 Modern/Horror, Exalted, and probably 2 others yet to be decided. I should get a list of all the games with their descriptors out to you all by late this weekend.

PS-If anyone is interested in GMing at this or any future RPGala's and you have not previously contacted me, let me know!!

Also, if anyone would like be an Assistant Organizer, drop me a line.
