If there were a Mt. Rushmore of Bad Movie Actors, two of the hallowed spots would clearly go to two of our Wasted Cinema favorites: Nic Cage and Sly Stallone. Another would have to go to the star of our next screening, a man who should've graced our screens months ago, and is finally getting his due. That man is Arnold Jerome Schwarzenegger. (We have no idea if that's actually his middle name, but we hope it is.)
And while there are certainly tons of films from Arnold's celebrated oeuvre that we could pick, we feel that our first Arnold showing should be the worst of his worst, which also happens to be his first: Hercules in New York.
Come see Arnold before he really developed his fine acting chops, in a movie so bad that the studio literally had another actor dub over every line of Arnold's dialogue because his accent was so unintelligible. (We secured the rights for the version featuring Arnold's voice, though, to really give you the full experience.)
In this ungodly mistake of a movie, Hercules is sent to New York, where he seeks out true love and (surprise, surprise) starts a promising career in the field of bodybuilding. Oh, and Arnold fights a man in a bear suit in Central Park. It might be the greatest scene in the history of movies. And you won't want to miss it!
To truly get a sense of just how amazing it is that Arnold went on to not only be a massive movie star, but the GOVERNOR OF A STATE, take a look at the trailer for the original release. Enjoy!
(FYI, here's a trailer featuring Arnold's actual voice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvhfdZz9AuU)
Here's how it works: you come out to Legend's bar to join us in their private event basement with 18 big screen TVs, order some drinks and/or food and enjoy an excellently awful b-movie.
