Welcome to the Way of Council meet up group. We invite you to join us in this spiritual practise that will give you the tools to talk and think from the heart. Claire Kearney will facilitate the Way of Council.
If you join us in Council what can you expect?
We will sit in a circle, either on the floor or in chairs and use the talking piece. Only the person with the talking piece can speak. I will explain the four intentions of council. Once the group has grasped the basic tools of the practice, we collectively decide the theme of our circle for that evening; it can be anything the circle wants, from having a better relationship with my family, to how I can find love in my life, how to achieve that chosen career, or how can I use council as a spiritual practice.
Who is it for?
It’s for everyone and anyone who is interested in self-awareness, spirituality, mindfulness and serving a greater good. If you are interested in shamanism, ritual, conscious awareness and understanding of yourself and others, you will benefit from these meetings.
What to bring:
Just as much of yourself as you can, but you might want to bring a rug or mat if you wish to sit on the floor. You are welcome to bring an item to place in the centre piece of our circle.
Claire Kearney will lead the Way of Council meetings. She is a Shamanic practitioner and counsellor for 13 years. She is a trained Psychotherapist and Mediator working with families, groups and individuals.
Below Claire shares her experience of Way of Council:
It’s great that so many of you are interested in the way of Council, especially since it’s more or less unknown here. Everyone is asking me to explain it more and as it is one of those things that is better understood when you experience it I thought I might share with you a little about my experiences of sitting in council.
I love sitting in council because it gives me the opportunity to express myself in a way that seems different from having a conversation. Council slows everything down. If I am having a rough time with a friend, work colleague or partner, or if I have something really special to say, and I’m feeling a little vulnerable about saying it, the practice of council really supports me and helps to say my piece, my truth.
I love the way I see people differently once I’ve sat in council with them, its like I see behind their mask - the image they put out to the world. It’s always great to see the real person. I learn to differentiate between what my mind wants to say and what my heart believes. I feel contained in a safe place to explore my own inner thoughts, insights and feelings. I laugh, or cry sometimes. I believe in the world again and in the human race; I feel connected. I learn more about myself and who I am in the world. I learn what it is like to be in relationship with me, I learn why my relationships don’t work and why they do. I learn that I am loved and that I’m capable of loving.
I look forward to sitting with you
