We Shoot.... Film! #3 *Street Theme Shootout*

• Do you love to shoot film? Do you think film grain is cool? Do you like a creative challenge? Can you live without your digital camera for a day?! Well, this could be the event for you!

• There are 12 themes on the shootout task list (see More>Files menu above). It is up to you to photograph an image that best suits each theme. You don't have to get every single one, just try your best to get as many as you can.

• Be original though, as we will ask other members to vote on their top three favourite photos. The image with the most overall votes by 30th August 2013 wins the shootout!

• NOTE: Make sure you use C41 film so that it can be processed in 1 hour (For B&W Ilford XP2 can be used) else for colour 35mm this is standard.

• We will meet up in a designated location (usually Snappy Snaps) to start the 'themed shootout'. Details to follow.

• Handing in your roll of film same day is optional, but if you wish to participate your images into the voting, you will need to get your roll developed and images uploaded by midnight 30th August 2013.

• Otherwise, simply collect your prints at a later stage and select images to upload as per the guidelines below.

• This fun event is open to beginners or advanced film shooters who understand the basics of using a film camera, such as aperture and shutter speed settings. Its all about being creative and improving your photographers eye, and not about who's using the best or more expensive camera!

• Image upload guidelines: Max 10 per person, images uploaded must be in a street photography genre (i.e have human element or activity), images must suit at least one of the themes. Images must have been taken on the day of the event. Images that do not fit this description may be removed!

Tube disruptions for Saturday: NORTHERN LINE: Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 August, no service between High Barnet, Mill Hill East, Golders Green and Stockwell (via Bank and Charing Cross). Replacement buses operate.

If you can get to Euston station (Victoria Line), there are replacement buses going direct to Camden Town Station according to TFL.

Hi Linda, Could you please suggest a retail or online store to get cheaper film like Ilford XP2 or other 35mm colour film these days? I am very much interested to join you all on this event.

If you are coming up to Camden from Euston, there is the Calumet shop as well which definitely sells film.

Hi Linda, I presume the idea is to get the film developed and digitally scanned? My current film workflow is to develop the film myself, then, as I don't have a scanner, photograph the negatives with my digital camera and a macro lens. This means the uploaded images would actually be from a digital camera though this is no different in principle to having the negatives commercially scanned. Does this fit the criteria?
