SAVE PUBLIC ACCESS CABLE CHANNELS IN L.A.

Attend the Council Committee Meeting
A PLAN TO SAVE PUBLIC ACCESS CABLE CHANNELS IN L.A.

PUBLIC TELEVISION INDUSTRY CORPORATION
A NON-PROFIT PUBLIC BENEFIT CORPORATION

Los Angeles, CA First Amendment advocates are mustering forces to rally support for a proposal put forth by the Public Television Industry Corporation (P-TIC) to restore and preserve the public cable studios and channels in Los Angeles. This non-profit, public benefit corporation was created to provide management and operations. In January 2009 Time Warner Cable shut down all fourteen of the public access studios and community channels. PTIC has developed a proposal to restore four studios and channels and will present it to the Council Members, at a Committee Council hearing to be held to be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at 2 p.m. 200 No. Spring Street. The Agenda and Meeting room will posted on the City website Monday.

Friday, April 24, 2009 Dave Hernandez, Leslie Dutton, Councilman Bill Rosendahl and Arlene Peck met to discuss strategy on how to restore the public's access to the public cable channels and studios.

Councilman Rosendahl, a long time champion of the First Amendment and public access channels has urged us to recruit producers and community members to attend the Council Committee meeting on Wednesday, April 29, 2009. He told us to bring out our most vocal and ardent supporters to demonstrate to the Committee how strongly we feel about having the public channels and studios restored.

Information: David R. Hernandez, Vice President, PTIC [masked] or Leslie Dutton [masked].
