Hello all,

A few days ago I emailed to this group about an 'XForms and semantic web' Meetup, but the message doesn't seem to have made the list.

It may now be too short notice for people (next Monday), so if you would like to come, please register your interest as soon as you can, lest I cancel the event!

The details are:

If you're interested in the semantic web and linked data, you're
probably also interested in techniques for visualising that data.

The next Meetup for the XForms User Group will delve into this area,
and show how XForms is ideal for creating reusable components,
containing both UI and the logic to query services.

The Meetup is free and open to all:

Title: XForms and linked data visualisations

When: Monday April 19th, 2010 at 6.30pm.

Where: The Skills Matter eXchange, 116-120 Goswell Road, London EC1V 7DP

Description:

A common theme to our previous presentations and talks is that XForms is
not just about form-filling, it's also about a range of custom interfaces from
maps through to voice.

But something we haven't discussed before is how the custom control aspect
of XForms makes it an ideal tool for creating the kind of flexible interfaces
needed in semantic web and linked data applications.

In this session we'll explain what we mean by a linked data application, and
then roll our sleeves up and play with some SPARQL queries, JSON data,
and Google Visualizations, before showing ultimately how we can wrap the
whole thing up in some XForms custom controls.

We'll be using data from the forthcoming triple-store from the NHS National
Innovation Centre -- an exciting project from the Department of Health which
is making available information about innovations in healthcare.

Whether you're interested in XForms custom controls, semantic web
visualisations, or even healthcare ontologies, there will hopefully be plenty
to interest you at this session.

We look forward to seeing you there.
