  • Wayfair Offices - 4 Copley Place

On December 14th we have two speakers from Google presenting at our group! Joshua Marantz will present mod_pagespeed, the new Apache module that automatically optimizes web content. Matthew Steele will give a sneak peek at the Page Speed Chrome extension, which brings Page Speed suggestions to users of the Chrome browser. Joshua Marantz is a software engineer at Google, where he serves as tech-lead of mod_pagespeed, a project to build an open-source Apache module for automatically improving website latency and reducing bandwidth consumption by rewriting HTML, CSS, Javascript, and Images. At Google he has also worked on latency improvements in web caching infrastructure and scalable social networking. Prior to Google, Josh spent 20 years in the Electronic Design Automation industry, much of which was working on accelerated functional simulation. He holds BS and MS degrees from MIT, in Computer Science and Engineering, and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Matthew Steele is a software engineer at Google, working on open-source web performance projects such as the Page Speed SDK, Page Speed browser extensions, and the Apache module mod_spdy. Matthew holds BS and MS degrees from MIT in Computer Science. Matthew will present Page Speed for Chrome, a soon-to-be-released Chrome extension. This talk will demo the new extension, cover some of the new Page Speed suggestions, and give an overview of the Chrome APIs that allow Page Speed to run in Chrome. This meetup will be held at the same place as the last one, 177 Huntington Avenue in Boston, and we will provide Pizza! Map:

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
