How long have you been working on improving website performance?

I've been a performance test engineer for 5 years now. I work mostly in IIS but have have a few cycles working testing java services that access lucene and solr cores. Lately I am working on a python site hosted with nginx, tornado, jetty, solr..... quite a mixed bag.

How did you first become interested in making sites faster?

This position seemed a natural transition from UI automation.

Introduction

I'm a performance test engineer at Gerson Lehrman Group and have been with the firm since September of 2007. I have held several positions in the past related to software quality assurance including test automation, and database analysis.
