Taming 3rd-party content: ads, widgets, trackers

  • July 22, 2010 · 6:30 PM
  • Interactive One

Third party content slows down our site while we don't have control over it. Ad banners, JavaScript widgets, analytics trackers - they all contribute to site's slowness and sometimes are biggest offender. Sergey Chernyshev will present about reducing the harm caused by these tools and best practices for consumers as well as creators of such 3rd party content. Agenda looks like this: 6:30 :: Check-in & Mingle 7:00 :: Presentation 8:00 :: Q & A 8:30 :: Networking & Open Discussion Once again, Interactive One is hosting us and provides pizza and refreshments! 205 Hudson Street (entrance on Canal St.) 6th Floor New York, NY 10013 How to get there: Get directions on Google Map Street View (entrance on Canal street) Please note that we're starting at 6:30 so please arrive early to enjoy pizza and leave enough time for conversation after the presentation.

I'll bring the power adapter with me this time. :) But yeah, I'd need a network connection.

I'll at least make sure you look and sound good in the video. You can make a fun screencast with the slides later. :)

    Marco, that would be awesome!
Will you be using your Macbook?
will you only need network and power?

I think video-recording slides is not going to work anyway so I wouldn't worry about the angle much.

Sergey, I can record it video to the BK.js channel on ustream if you'd like. Might be tricky to figure out a good angle in that venue for grabbing the slides, but worth a shot I think. :)
