The Raleigh-Durham Web Design Group Monthly Meetup

  • Jul 8, 2014 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

We are looking for a speaker. If you have a topic ready please suggest it.

Want to speak? Just contact any organizer or assistant organizer - Pepper, Dieter, Michael, or Mitch!

Please consider moderating a meeting! It takes only a small amount of preparation and the back-and-forth discussion is much more lively than a Q&A session after a "powerpoint and bullets" lecture style presentation.

We often have Open Floor discussions on topics chosen by a volunteer moderator. Some tickler topics:

Building skills, or, what new software/services have you learned (or written!)

Tips and Techniques for effective design by newbies

Web SEO, marketing and evaluating results

Book or article reviews - read or written!

Focus Group style Web Site Tear Downs

- Mitch

Format of Meeting, and Time

Since many of us get to the meeting early, we make a half-hour available as a meet-eat-and-greet time prior to any presentations or shop talk. We start formally at 7:30pm, but arriving at 7pm will give you time to get settled in.

We typically do a round-robin greeting just before the action starts at 7:30pm. We will end the greeting period with announcements, and then give the floor to the presenter or moderator.

Consider the benefits of moderating, presenting lecture style, or giving a tutorial:

Enhanced Credibility

Visibility For Your Business

Increased Good Will

Speakers, THANK YOU for your participation.

About the Locations

Recent meetings have been held at TekSystems' offices at the corner of Edwards Mills and Trinity Road. Outside doors of the building lock at 7pm - we will try to have a posted paper with a cell number to call or text or have a person at the door - but arriving promptly will help avoid a wait.

Panera has WiFi access, deep pots of coffee, and plenty of room. Please be polite to the staff and mindful of other customers. We should vacate by 9pm so staff can go home! Note: Maps.Google.Com finally shows the correct location.

Check the menu on our Web site for Past Meetups you may have missed.

Terrific! The group was small and the conversation was in an open-forum style. This made networking and listening to different topics much easier than in larger Meetups. It never hurts to have free pizza and a warm group either!

I've been learning and implementing Gulp recently. Any interest on a Gulp conversation?

    July 5, 2014

    • Marc D.

I think a conversation about Gulp and other tools people are using in their day-to-day web work could be interesting! It is a challenge to keep up with new tools and tricks.

Pepper, Thank you! I look forward to meeting you.

Our scheduled speaker unfortunately had to cancel due to overabundance of work. This week will be an open discussion - ie. people will share topics they would like to discuss and then you can spend the time discussing mutual interest topics with others in the room interested in your topic. These are always good. We are looking for a presenter for August if anyone is interested.
