This is a riding group who enjoys meeting new people and the sport of motorcycling. We are family oriented and all are welcome. We like to think of ourselves as "Weekend Warriors". Rides start from various points generally in Passaic and Morris Counties. All rides are posted on the Calendar. Take a look and if anything sounds like something you would like to do, please RSVP based on the guidelines for that particular ride.
As our group gets larger and experience level vary, I have to remind myself not to assume everybody knows the rules etc... or even what KSU (Kick Stands Up and we are moving) stands for, and I find myself doing that all the time. I appreciate all questions, and will respond to all comments that are thrown my way to the best of my ability. For those who are new to the group, I'll go over some general things that I assume everyone know :)....
For upcoming rides, I'll watch the weather closely and try to make a determination if possible by Wednesday the week of the ride. If it's obvious that the weekend is going to be a total wash out I'll cancel or reschedule the ride on Meetup (all RSVP-Yes participants should received an email notification). Be sure to check the site often. If Saturday looks like a better day to go riding due to weather than Sunday, I'll post that also on Meetup. If I haven't posted anything, we are going on the day I posted. If there is a slight chance of rain, please pack your rain gear. We'll go slow or pull over undercover if we get caught in a passing downpour. It's important that I have your cell numbers and you can email me if I don't exchange mine before we go for last minute stuff that may happen or the ride gets cancel. If we get to the meetup place and it's starts raining, I'll get a feel from the group what they want to do. Ride or Cancel. I'm one for taking chances the weather will be good. I really dislike sitting at home because the weather man says it's going to rain and I don't see a drop all day. (That sucks). We typically stop throughout the ride and for sure every 100-150 miles for gas (based on the lowest mileage range of participants that day).
I've attached a link about group riding that pretty much describe our riding group style. Please take a moment to read the General Group Riding to include, positioning, passing, group behavior and an alternate to route sheets and remember SAFETY is number one. http://www.motorcycle.com/rider-safety/grou...;
During the non-riding months, we will gather to plan rides and to discuss riding tips/more. I can certainly plan any and all rides but I would much prefer to get input/suggestions from our members on types of rides and locations. I will try to orient our rides towards those preferences as we can.
Starting in 2016, it is also important to note our Basic Dues and Rules Policies. Those policies can be view here: http://www.meetup.com/Weekend-Warriors/pages/Basic_Dues_and_Rules_Policies/
We really look forward to meeting new Weekend Warriors.
