South of Saffron Walden is a cyclist paradise where traditional villages are linked with quiet country lanes. This ride is going through beautiful undulating farmland interspersed with small woodlands and the views are interrupted by mighty oaks and ashes. Idyllic villages, we will cycle through, have pretty cottages with thatched roofs and ponds teaming with wild life.
Itinerary: Saffron Walden > Clavering > Ugley > Henham > Debden > Saffron Walden
Distance: 37km/ 23miles.
Difficulty: Reasonable level of fitness is required. You should be able to cycle for 3 hours at a leisure speed.
Getting there: Train (Leave Liverpool Street Station at 09:55 – arrive to Audley End Station at 10:57 – stepfree access).
Food: Not decided yet. Pub or sandwiches?
Safety: Helmets are compulsory, glasses highly recommended (protection against stones and flies).
