The Old Mint is gorgeous from the outside -- let's discover its inner beauty while learning the history of and future plans for this historic building.
They don't have any public weekend tours currently scheduled through July, so I worked with the historical society to create this private group weekend tour.
10:45am: Meet at the northeast side of the Mint Building
11am: Tour begins
12:15pm: Drinks/snacks at Blue Bottle Coffee
Note: I must leave Blue Bottle Coffee around 12:30pm to meet with the group participating in the St. Francis tour; however, I encourage others to relax/hang out longer, if desired.
If interested, RSVP for the St. Francis: 110th Anniversary Guided Tour and/or the Pacific Mambo Orchestra at SFJAZZ events happening later on the same day.
Official event description
Get a look inside the Old Mint. SFMHS guides will discuss the history of the building, the plans for the facility, and show you the progress we have made so far. Note: Production of coins ceased at The Old Mint in 1937, and there are no coins or coin-making equipment on display.
