Bring a sign that says "FREE HUGS". There will usually be people there who have extra signs; so, if you decide you want to come at the last minute, and don't have your own sign, come anyway.
I usually stay for about an hour.
There is street parking or you can park in the parking lot of the church across the street for $5.
Bring water to drink, if it is warm, you will sweat!
I'm on the far right of the photo.
Signs should have good contrast. Black letters on white paper or cardboard is good. You need to be able to hold on to the sign while you are hugging, so keep that in mind. I make my signs from 14" x 11" posterboard (buy at a drugstore, craft store, Big Lots, etc.) using a wide point black permanent marker. Make the letters big and bold. the posterboard I use is thin enough that I can copy the lettering from an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper printed with "FREE HUGS" (Using a font size that fills the page in landscape mode.). I use a window (during daylight) as a light box to do the copying.
Be respectful of the people walking by, some people will want hugs, others won't.
Give hugs to people who want them. Have fun.
If people want to, we can go to a bar or restaurant after we finish hugging.
RSVPs are not required, but nice to do so other people won't think they will be the only one from Weirdery Austin there.
