From Student to Software Developer : Bridging the Gap (incl panel discussion)

Ever been interested in (or expected to) mentoring a graduate/junior developer, wondered how degrees have changed focus over time or which universities are "stronger", or struggled to understand why your new starter just doesn't "know stuff" (or even just how to relate to them)? Then this is for you.

Join me and some recent interns and graduates - and learn how they found entering the .NET software development world; what they wish they'd been taught in their degree; and what they wish someone had told them in their first month in a "real world" job. Finishing with an open-to-the-floor session for you to pick their brains.

Starring (in no particular order):

• Josh Candish

• Ryan McInteer

• Nick Wareing

• Ben Vidulich

• Matt Bennett

Bring questions to ask, and we'd love a supportive environment for these guys to do their first public presentation.

Hi all - for those interested in the detail slides at the very end (strengths and weaknesses of degrees, and what was mandatory vs elective), the slides and notes are now available here: http://files.meetup.com/1809517...

This will be happening at Inov8 as usual. Sorry for not having the site up to date.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
