Load Testing with Visual Studio Ultimate

How many requests a second can IIS handle? And your application? What exact hardware would you add if your current project had to quadruple its user load? Ever rethought your hosting requirements after seeing a pricing sheet?

Maybe those are all bordering on trick questions - But let’s have a look at the load testing tools provided in Visual Studio Ultimate to get a foothold. They do a great job of assisting test creation, exposing and managing useful parameters and showing real time feedback during the test.
We’ll create both a recorded and coded test, discuss planning a test, watch performance counters at work, and discuss some lessons learnt. Load testing can have a long tail of options, but the right tools & planning can make it achievable and insightful.

And hopefully we can break an application.

For anyone that is interested, there is a Wellington Code Retreat on Saturday, December 8. A good chance to sharpen the saw and try something a bit different. Bevan, could you give a plug at the meeting please (sorry I can't make this one). Thanks. Details here:
