Deploying and extending bitcoin

This is the first meetup of the Wellington Bitcoin group.

Robert O'Brien will talk about the internal structure of the Bitcoin protocol

Vikram Kumar (CEO of Mega) will talk about his recent developments in extending the bitcoin protocol (see his great blog post for more info)

And we'll all talk about the how and where we want the meetup group to go.

Note that Robert is running a Chalkle course "Bitcoin 101" on the night before this meetup, for anyone interested in getting a handle on the basics.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Can I put in my 2cent proxy. Evenings would suit better. As for what. Anything that is for extending use of cryptocurrencies and advocating to general masses. I don't think limited to bitcoin as well as there are a few big alt coins. I'm happy to give a talk about different ones at a future meetup

Great group, has there been any thought into making this a generic Cryptocurrency group, instead of just bitcoin?

Myself, I've been playing round with primecoin a bit.

Cryptocurrencies tend to be so different from other virtual currencies that it is probably worth keeping the group focus on cryptocurrencies and non-currency uses of the underlying crypto. Primecoin, for example, is very aligned to Bitcoin in terms of source code, protocols and implementation.
