Community Fruit Picking..... Damson Plums

Fruit Harvesting Wellington are going to be harvesting 5 damson plum trees this Sunday, urgently need additional fruit pickers and have asked us if we'd be able to help out

If you have a ladder bring it along but most of the plums can be picked from ground level. The fruit is donated free by the owner of the land, then recycled to over 20 charities in Wellington, Kaibosh is main distribution for this. Every volunteer has the option of taking a bag of fruit, damson plums are apparently quite rare so this is a very special find. If you fancy spreading the love a little more.... fruit is also taken by volunteers who make jams and preserves for food banks.

It's a private address so I'll email the street numbers to those that RSVP yes.

If you get post my mobile number is[masked]

A fun outing made all the better knowing proceeds going to a good cause. Thanks Lucy and to tree owners Allan and Jean - my share of the fruit is already stewed and ready to go atop my cereal in the morning. What a wonderful intense plum flavour and aroma this damson variety has when cooked!

Lovely couple that allowed us to converge on their property to pick all their beautiful Damson plums.
