Eat @ Ombra

I have been wanting to try this place since it opened, as it has gotten rave reviews.  They don't do bookings so hopefully this is early enough to secure a table.  In Italian, "ombra" means shadow, and apparently also can mean a small glass of wine.

Ombra offers Venetian style tapas such as arancini (stuffed rice balls), pizzette (small pizzas), meatballs and other tasty treats.  According to the restaurant reviews, risotto, fish and salad are also available.  And of course wine and other beverages.

I'd prefer to be able to order and share a variety of dishes so encourage omnivores to sign up.  If you have dietary restrictions you are still welcome to join us but we won't necessarily limit our choices to your requirements.  Please be prepared to spend at least $50, and please only sign up if you intend to come.  If you sign up and your plans change, please change your RSVP ASAP so someone else can come and we know who is actually going to be there.

    Sorry for late notice but I won't be able to make it now. My cold is not improving and I don't know what I'll feel like Saturday so will make way for someone else. I've been to Ombra before, it's great. Wise to go early - I went at 6pm and by[masked] there were queues to get in. Enjoy!

    I had a long lunch at Ombra, it is a dining sensation. Ombra also means shade, and this is probably the context here - noting that, yes, according to the serving staff, the wine drunk out of the small glasses they use is called an ombra, a bicchiere of wine in the shade? The style is Venetian, or at any rate northern Italian, although they do serve southern wines (from Puglia), which I can also recommend. I would have joined you as my Foodies debut, and would be interested if a spot became free. Bernie
