Jam Session at Toi Poneke Arts Center (Te Aro)

Do you like to jam on some good old standards or play/sing the latest chart toppers?
Do you have an original composition that you want to try out with other musicians, or practice for an open mic gig?
Are you keen on playing music with other people but don't know where to start?

Well then let's join at the Toi Poneke Art Center in the CBD for a relaxed, no-pressure jam! We are renting one of the music studio there for a 2-hour session. These studios are not equipped, so bring your instruments with you. Our sessions are mostly acoustic but bring a bit of amplification if your instrument needs it. A contribution of up to $5 will be asked to cover for the hire of the room.

We are not fussed about ability or genre, and singers are more than welcome. Once the session is over we may then head to a nearby bar to socialize a bit more and congratulate ourselves on our musical prowess!

Don't hesitate to suggest songs you'd like to play in the comments below, and if you can bring some sheet music or chords with you even better.
Looking forward to see you there

    Halleluiah
    Hide your love away
    Better be home soon

I know the info said the room isn't equipped but I just wondered if there happened to be a piano there by any chance?! For the time being my only transport is my bike so I would struggle to even bring a guitar at present....

That would be awesome Jan. Warren if you want there is a guitar available for you then. Can you confirm if you can make it so that Jan does not bring it for nothing. Cheers

Hi Geoffrey and Jan, thanks for that Jan. I'm really sorry I've just discovered I forgot an appointment this Thursday evening in Waikanae so I won't be able to make it this week. I will keep an eye out for future jam sessions!

    Any suggestions regarding songs?
Tim, can you bring your book of kiwi songs, there were some good classics in there. How about 'Weather with you', that sounded pretty good last time.
    Cheers
