Lets scoot up to Titahi Bay via the suburbs, there's a number of routes through town we could go to end up on the road to Tawa, Porirua and out to Titahi Bay. The bay itself is actually a beach on the west side but the headland of Whitieria Park Reserve has a road that goes to a parking area and then on to Onehunga Bay, which from our Google map investigation on Saturday morning looks like it has some lovely miniature roads perfect for our scooters. In fact its looks like a road continues around the headland to the left, but this is more a walking track that becomes a road again nearer the town, still, have scooter, can investigate.
We could bring some nibbles with us for when we arrive at the bay and/or find a cafe, even if just for the caffeine addicts in the group.
Titahi Bay is also the only local half decent place to go outdoor rock climbing near Wellington. From the parking area at Whitieria Park Reserve, there is a steep track down to the west side of the headland and the crags are then further round.
