Following on from the success of the last meeting, we'll brainstorm ideas for submitting more OIA requests.
We'll also look at any results we already have back from the pilot OIA requests that have been sent out to schools in the Taranaki area.
This is a regular meeting for people who want to be involved in skeptical activism. We spend an evening in a pub, working collaboratively on a skeptical subject of local (New Zealand) concern.
The kinds of projects envisioned for these evenings include filing complaints with the ASA, editing Wikipedia to add a skeptical viewpoint to articles that are not presently fairly balanced and creating small websites to counter unscientific claims made by organisations such as FANNZ and the IAS. We also hope to plan trips to outside events that may interest skeptics, such as faith healing services, the annual NZ 911 Truthers' Exhibition and talks where the speaker is promoting pseudoscience.
The evening will be technology based, so please bring a laptop, tablet or smart phone. We hope to be doing a lot of internet based activity, and will be connecting to the pub's WiFi network.
