The Mighty Ukes - Open Mic Uke Night @ 7pm-8.30pm

~ Ukulele is the instrument of friendship, love and peace ~

Join us tonight @ 7.00pm, The Office Bar & Cafe, 124 Riddiford Street, Newtown, Wellington. Absolute Beginners & all levels welcome. BYO Ukulele & Koha. Spare ukes available.

Come out of the ukulele closet and join The Mighty Ukes of Wellington and the Ukulele Revolution. Relax and strum along with us for a fun ukulele jam session. All songs and chord charts provided - just bring you and uke.

We usually warm up with some 3 chord popular folk/culture songs to encourage our beginners to join in, then we step-up gear as the night ticks on.

We're also dusting off well-loved classic hits and bringing them to life with the Mighty Uke. Leonard Cohen classics like "Dance Me to the End of Love" Johnny Cash "Ring of Fire" Del Shannon "Runaway" Roy Orbison "Blue Bayou" and many more!

Oh my! The Mighty Ukes Open Mic Night was just mighty! mighty! We had so much fun, laughter and revealing new talent in the group is really awesome :) Old classics, fun songs, the original and the unusual all came to the party. There were solos, duos, trios performing a smorgasbord of great sing songs and sing-a-longs: something for everyone. We hold Open Mic Uke Nights on the last Tuesday of the month with a rolling roster of MC duos adding to the fun mix. Tonight we had "Johnny Cash" complete with wig, hat and black clothes. He MC'd as well as bringing his "wife" June Cash - with long wig, dress and boots - to sing a duet "Jackson" They were tops and there was much laughter and deserved applause for their wonderful performance! All the performers were awesome! We are looking forward to our July Open Mic Uke Night as we continue to Uke & Spread the Love :)
