The Mighty Ukes - Ukulele Tuesdays: Weekly @ 7pm-8.30pm

~ Ukulele is the instrument of friendship, love and peace ~

Join us tonight @ 7.00pm, The Office Bar & Cafe, 124 Riddiford Street, Newtown, Wellington. Absolute Beginners & all levels welcome. BYO Ukulele & Koha. Spare ukes available.

Come out of the ukulele closet and join The Mighty Ukes of Wellington and the Ukulele Revolution. Relax and strum along with us for a fun ukulele jam session. All songs and chord charts provided - just bring you and uke.

We usually warm up with some 3 chord popular folk/culture songs to encourage our beginners to join in, then we step-up gear as the night ticks on.

We're also dusting off well-loved classic hits and bringing them to life with the Mighty Uke. Leonard Cohen classics like "Dance Me to the End of Love" Johnny Cash "Ring of Fire" Del Shannon "Runaway" Roy Orbison "Blue Bayou" and many more!

Oh what a Night! with 25 happy ukers singing their hearts out as we rolled through the years with all our favourite classics! We've written heaps of Song Charts over the months with our special favs...and tonight for the first time, we experimented with projected songs onto a wall screen! We have over 100+ songs on our memory stick, and hope to upload 1,000+ songs over the coming weeks and months. Our DropBox will contain the same number, so it'll be like a backup. We thought it fun to go through the songs alphabetically, consecutively, and tonight we scrolled through and uked all the songs starting with As and Bs - so next week we'll continue into the Cs and Ds hehe :) talk about 1, 2, 3 and A, B, C....it certainly throws up all the well-loved classic favourites...like "A Kind of Hush" and "Brand New Key". It was such a big buzz and the time flew past so fast and we sang our little hearts out - cos we know how to Uke & Spread the Love :)

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
