Pencarrow Lighthouse Walk, December 15 - 8:00am - 40km walk

We will start at Marine Drive in Eastbourne and walk around to the Pencarrow Lighthouse and back.

Getting there:

We will meet at the corner of Marine Drive and Port Road in Eastbourne. There is a car park there and we will be going out and back so no messy logistics. Bring it on!!

Well done. I made sure I stopped at 40! I went to Bluff point and hit a dead end then went to the lake and a bit further until I got to my magic number. Where did you go to get 47.9?

Geat day out 47.9km done and dusted. Wow what an achievement. Feeling the effects now though. Me thinks tomorrow might be a slow one.

So the walk does not start in Petone?

Walk starts at Marine Drive in Eastbourne, that is my understanding with respect the original information sent, as per picture etc above.

    Hey Natalia
Is this a hard yakka walk! I am reasonably fit, but would consider myself a novice alongside some of you lovely ladies......

    Hi Natalia,
If we wanted to meet up with you guys at the beginning of the gravel track to the lighthouse, rather than do a pavement walk in from Eastbourne what sort of time do you think you will be coming through?
Also I'm wondering whether on this walk we are more likely to walk more as a group than we did on the flat walk down from Upper Hutt?
    Thanks

How much pavement walk is it?

Hi, I have checked on Wises Maps and it says it is about 16km from the corner of Port Rd and Marine Dr to the lighthouse. Are we therefore going past the lighthouse to get the 40km? I am very keen to walk 40km to check out my fitness so far? Thanks

    • Natalia Albert

Hey Roslyn, that is actually correct. Last year we had to keep going 2 more kms out and then back and that was yoru 40 kms :)

Excellent that sounds great as we are very keen to do a long one to see how we are going so great!

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone doing this walk is thinking of doing the Oxfam Trailwalker but yet to sign up? We're looking for a 4th team member so please let us know if you might be keen. :)

  • Magdalena

What kind of walk is it? Is there a map available? Where are we going to walk exactly?

    November 30

    • Natalia Albert

Hi Magdalena, its a 20 km walk from Eastbourne toward the lighthouse in Pencarrow and 20 kms back to Eastbourne. Its all flat. Bring enough food for a 8 hour walk, enough socks and good weather gear. Let me know if you have any questions :)
