From the Wellington Lux facebook page https://www.facebook.com/WellingtonLUX:

COMPETITION TIME!! We want to see all the fantastic images you have taken of the festival so we are running a photo competition. We want you to send us your best picture of WGTN LUX 2013 to [masked]. Only one per person please. The top 3 images we select will then be published in "Lighting" magazine (http://www.rala.com.au/integrated-media/home.do) along with an article on this year's LUX. The top 10 images will appear on their website. All with full credits of course. Closing date for entries is end of day Sunday 30th June. Images for publishing will need to be 300dpi. Good luck!

I turned up slightly late and since I didn't see folks there, decided to venture out on me own. Sorry, I have a baby so timing can go a little haywire. however, enjoyed being out there photographing.

Good to see a few people out and about, and the weather was much improved over Saturday night. Looking forward to the next Lux already :)

Popped out tonight for a look, and its great. I recommend warm clothing (gloves would be great, I couldn't feel my hands after an hour or so along the waterfront) and a tripod. Looking forward to heading out tomorrow night on the meetup as well.

The weather forecast is looking much better for tomorrow night. Less wind and rain. I think we should postpone.

However - there are now 32 people listed as attending so it wouldn't hurt to split the group. If you can't make it tomorrow and the weather is ok by 5pm, you could make a smaller group by meeting in the same place -5pm City Gallery entrance. I personally am going tomorrow!

Looks like things are delayed a bit with the weather. Sensible I guess :)

Rug up and keep warm! Thanks for the link Amelia. Was thinking of checking the spots to photograph tonight but that won't be happening I reckon.

Can anyone give a few hints on the best way to take photos of lights? Or a good tutorial online? I think I'd like to have a bit of a practice beforehand.

One last thing...it's a super moon this weekend too, actually Sunday 23rd. Moonrise is 5.04pm but best images around 11pm I am told. Supermoons are when the moon is closest to the earth.

I may turn (but not at 5p.m.) up or not as I have a baby. If my partner is home early, I may be able to make it. Otherwise, I would be photographing on me own during the four days. Details of the light installation are http://lux.org.nz/ (click on EHIBITS 2013 pm on your right) to check out the types of installation around city waterfront.

The Lux organisers are slowly adding information to the website about the exhibits but haven't said where they are going to be placed.
    Got to - http://wellingtonlux.wordpress.com
on the right hand side of the page look for Exhibits 2013 to see what is up so far. I will also check the weather when it gets close, we might have to have an alternate date if the weather is like today which will probably be the Sunday.

Here is some more information which arrived today but still no list of where the exhibits will be. You can subscribe to receive information from the website listed above.

URBAN ALIVE - A fantastic light walk across the city centre made up of 17 individual installations that all use light in some form or another. Going to be spectacular.

SYMPOSIUM - A fun and informative two days of presentations and talks from a number of the artists, designers and architects taking part in URBAN ALIVE and some invited international guests.

BYOB - A crazy flashmob mashup of projected imagery on the Saturday night of the festival weekend.

MATARIKI - Artists and performers celebrating the beginning of the Maori new year through their work and light.

Oops! Will try and change the date. I had more information but managed to send the thing before I had finished writing it and then couldn't work out how to edit.
There is a symposium as well as displays which will be in different spots around Wellington. At the moment I don't have full details about where all of them will be so will update meeting place and time when I know more. Sunset is 4.49pm so I have made the meeting time for then but it may get changed if the lights don't start till say-7.

All I can find by following the links is something about a symposium. Where do you find information about what there is to see and where?

Is this really scheduled for 5am or is that meant to be 5pm?
