Okay, the moment of truth!
Jess, Amelia and I have rated the eligible images, compiled a summary of those ratings, and come up with three winners!
As stated, the prize consists of bragging rights. If anyone would like to donate some other prizes, just let me know, and we'll do something about it for the next one.
Without further ado, the winners are:
Third place goes to Peti Morgan, for 'It's raining today...'
Second and first were very close, but second place goes to Shyam Panchacharan for 'Our new edition'.
Congratulations for first place in the inaugural competition to Sarah F for 'Mandarin'.
Thanks to all the contestants. What a great start. Amelia has already launched the next one:
Weekly Challenge 2 - Frozen Water. Get your thinking caps on and see what you might be able to do.

excellent idea but on Flickr you can see details of the image that has been uploaded whereas on meetup that metadata information is not available and you will never reallt know date n time photos were taken. Best to post on Flickr plus image quality won't be bad!! Btw, I am keen as ;-)

We could also share photos either in a flickr group (now it's all cool again) or use a closed group on Facebook.
like the 'FMS photo a day challenge' does.
I like the Facebook photo a day challenge group as you can post your photos to facebook without having to be 'FB friends' with the other members of the group.
So everyone only gets to see the photos posted to the group and to comment on them, but not the rest of your FB stuff (unless you want them too). And it doesn't go on your FB wall, only the group wall.
Check ou the 'FMS photo a day challenge' group on Facebook here:
If nothing else you could steal some of the guidelines they have around posting photos to the group.

Great idea indeed. Maybe open it a bit more to the community by letting the winner choose the next topic, and / or letting everyone who participates vote on one other image? A threaded forum might be the best place for this but I guess you want to keep it connected to the Meet Up group rather than just open it out.
