From tomorrow until 17th October at the Museum of Wellington This exhibition features 28 stunning black and white photographs by French photographer Vincent Hilaire taken during the northern hemisphere winter of 2007 – 2008, when the expedition yacht Tara was locked in the Arctic sea ice near the North Pole. The photographs are about the mystery, the magnificence and the magic of the high latitudes, while recognizing that the ice is an unforgiving place for humans. With original soundtrack by composer Jacques Cassard, created using recordings of ice movement, this exhibition celebrates the quest to understand the unknown that drives many scientists, artists and adventurers. ----- Not strictly a meetup, just letting people know it might be something worth checking out! I shall be going tomorrow afternoon to have a look (22nd August) and anyone is welcome to tag along!
