Travel writing and photography

Travcom invites you to an illustrated talk on: "An unstable world
— and what it means for travel writers"
(NOTE: non-members $20 - must pay on booking for event - see below RSVP by 25th October)

Join well-known writer and photographer Bob Maysmor. Bob has certainly visited some exotic places — Syria, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Mongolia, Angola, North Korea, Georgia, Antarctica……
From this wealth of experience, he will explore
• how countries move from stability into chaos and vice versa
• how it opens and closes doors for travel
• how it offers and takes away opportunities for travel writers
Bob has worked in the museum profession for nearly thirty years — Dowse Art Museum, Hutt City, and now Pataka Museum, Porirua. He has been a multiple finalist in the Cathay Pacific Travel Media Awards. In 2006 Bob won the Best Overseas Photo category with his image of a scene in Irkutsk in Siberia.
As in all our events, his talk will be followed by an open Q&A session.

Cost: Non-members $20; Travcom members $10, includes a welcome drink and nibbles.
Time: 6pm, Tuesday 30 October 2012
Place: Senna Room, Ground floor, Museum Hotel, 90 Cable Street, Wellington
Please R.S.V.P. by Thursday 25 October 2012 – reserve your tickets by emailing and sending cheque to: [masked] ( or contact her for internet banking).

This event has been organised by the Wellington branch of the Travel Communicators' Association (Travcom). For further information, contact one of the local committee: Judith Doyle ([masked]); Heather Hapeta ([masked]); Anabright Hay ([masked]); Leeanne Templer ([masked] )

Don't forget this needs to be pre-booked and paid to Travcom ... we a re in a smaller room this time and will have to cut numbers off so those who have not paid are likely not to get in.. Sorry!

Agree it's not the easiest process, but I guess it's because we're not Travcom members yet, there's one reason to consider membership! :-)

I totally understand ...and if it was my decision bank payments would be the norm ... but right now our part time sect in Auckland does not have the time to check daily re payment .. and esp as many don't put their name or area in it. re payment first ( however i will raise it again) .. we need the numbers for Museum hotel for catering and we have had many non-members book but not turn up .. resulting in a financial loss to us. of course joining makes it cheaper but as a member I still pay first .. see you Tuesday

I'm surprised by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
