Photograph Solar Eclipse Courtenay Place

i suggest a meetup outside Sweet Mothers Kitchen (5 Courtenay Place) on November 14th from 9am til 12 noon. It is a partial solar eclipse (76% in Wellington), and is an awesome photo opportunity. I will have Bader solar film photographic filters for photography loan, (prepared as cokin style slides, both sizes), telescopes with solar filters for video to public screens, and viewing 'glasses' to loan for views. There are also people in various modes of exclamation and wonder, technology, etc. Trees give multiple images of crescent sun on ground, each gap between leaves becomes a pinhole projector. woudl be great to share..

Thanks for organising this and having solar fliters available to borrow. Fun to photograph it while meeting other photography geeks!

I took some pictures of sun as a practice run today and the Sun turned out pretty much white. I was hoping it will be slight orange shade as most pictures online. Does people use filters to change the color or its the settings that make difference.

yes, people re-colour the image, or they take it through a professional Ha (Hydrogen Alpha) filter, which is always arnage caste. I found that using the orange lighting filter reduces the clarity of the image.

my telescopes are locked away at a friends place, and she has gone on holiday apparently.. crazy .. but anyway we use the camera and 300mm lense for our viewing.
