This group is for experienced hikers who are interested in hikes of 6-12+ miles and that will generally have significant elevation gain, anywhere from 1000-5000 feet. While hikes may be challenging, they will be done at a moderate pace which will allow the group to take in the scenery and not just go from point A to point B.

As the name implies we will go places which may be new to the hikers and organizers, so not having been somewhere before is part of the adventure. Most hikes will be within a two hour drive of the North San Diego County area. Hikes will be scheduled almost exclusively on weekends and holidays. Hikes will generally occur about twice a month with the busiest time being the summer months. The nominal $10 membership fee will help defray some of the meetup costs, pay organizer therapy and allow for more privacy of the site content and the meetup locations, events and activities.

Prospective members may wish to view the North County Hiking meetup site which is not a private site for some idea of the makeup of this group.  We're The Hekawee Hikers is essentially North County Hiking on steroids, with hikes of longer distances to locations farther away from North San Diego County.
