This a great 2 day catered ride with Great Explorations. I have done this a couple of times and it is great value for money. There is generally about 150 people riding, all at your own pace. You can start and finish the day on your time
Its 50 km on Saturday and 50 km on Sunday. About 60 percent single track and about 40 percent fire trail
In a nutshell you bus or park at Horseshoe Bay. There is parking at the Loin's car park for $5 a night, . Get on the ferry with your bike.
Your backpack, and you, and your bike are transported to Half Moon Bay where you camp. Next 2 days are spent on single trail and fire roads getting back to the ferry.
Your pack with tent and some clothing are transported to the second night which is in a provincial park.
The whole route is flagged. .
Cost are $169 before Aug 1 and $20 to get your you your gear, and bike transported from the ferry to Half Moon Bay. There is $5 discount if you belong to a club, like meetup. Don't forget to put this in in the form. So $184. all in for grub, transport, and salmon barbecue, and singer on sat night. plus tax.
The second night is in the provincial park camping ground in the cycle/ hike in section. We have to pay the provincial park staff separately. per tent site. Its about a tenner per tent, so a big tent with 2-3 people is cheaper. The provincial camping sites cannot be included by Great Explorations, coz that is the way the provincial park run it
The food is good. You will be plenty tired by the time you get to the ferry. No line ups with the car. Justwalk on the next ferry
All you need is basically a tent, foamy or inflatable mattress in a big backpack camelback , light sleeping bag/ blanket and sheets and some clean clothes, plus your puncture kit etc.
I have extra camping gear if people do not have all the stuff.
Please sign up before Aug 1 for early bird discount . Sign up at the Great Explorations site.
