Lammas Ritual

Please read thoroughly, especially if you are new...

Returning Members: The exact location with directions & instructions will be emailed to you several days before the ritual. If you have chosen not to receive messages sent through Meetup please provide me with an email address where I can reach you.

Newcomers: I will be contacting you to set up a time to talk via Skype or in person.  If you have chosen not to receive messages sent through Meetup please provide me with an email address where I can reach you.  You will not be given the ritual location until we have spoken personally.

I will start buzzing people into the building 30 minutes before the ritual (6:30pm, no earlier!).  No one will be admitted after the ritual begins at 7pm.

There is a $5 cover charge for each ritual. This is to help cover costs of materials, time, & energy. However, no one will be turned away for inability to pay.

~Themes of hope, belief, & trust dominate the sabbat of Lammas.  We are now halfway to autumn.  Although the fruits of our labor have reached their pinnacle, the results remain unknown.  The fruits of the seeds we planted on the spring are ready to be gathered in.~

I see it a little differently. Fear is natural. It can be a good thing, and many times it keeps us alive. It shouldn't be something that you try to get rid of or forget about – it won’t let you, anyway! Welcome your fear. Savor it. It helps you see essence of the fear for what it really is. Determine if it is a kind of fear that needs to be overcome, through courage, or if it is a kind of fear that you should listen to instead of overcoming -- like, for example, the fear of jumping off a cliff. That’s a healthy fear – don’t overcome that one unless you’re tied to a bungee or something! :)

I’m not sure this helps at all, Laurie, and after reading through this comment, it sounds something you probably already have thought of, already. Oh well, I’ll post it anyway. Cheers!

In regard to your fear... Since you ask for my perspective, I'll give it (but know that I'm not sure of anything, and only write what I think is right). It sounds like the source of most of your fear stems from the fact that you are unemployed and are seeking work. As you know, that is not at all pleasant, and in order to seek work, it is not only exhaustive mentally, but humbling as well. All I can say, from my perspective of limited knowledge, is to drive through your fears and bear the pains of exhaustion and humiliation. And stay busy with it so that you don't have time to think about it. In this case, I really believe that over-thinking is like poison. It can lead to inaction -- which just makes the whole situation worse.

This ritual was great for bringing the trial's I've had this year into focus. I realize that fear is holding me back or preventing me from achieving my intentions. Now - if I could only determine what the fear is, where it is being generated from and how it is manifesting itself in my life; I would then be able to acknowledge it, embrace it and let it go. Does any one have any helpful insights for me? If you don't want to post here, let me know and we can have a private chat.

Hi Maureen - Yes, I will be working with my therapist on this one. It is also interesting and helpful for me to get feedback from other people who may have experienced a similar situation or fear and get their perspective. After thinking about it for a while, I believe the fear is either: fear of the unknown, fear of failure, or fear of rejection. I'll work with these with my therapist and find which one has the most resonance with me in this situation. I believe that once I identify which one it is, I can probably look to Natalie to help me identify a god or goddess who I can work with/meditate on for assistance. I think that will help me either go through the fear or us it to my benefit. Wish me luck. Laurie

Great gathering with old and new friends, and those whose intentions were with us. It was a very helpful meditation, I need to let go of my fear to get to the other side of my journey.

FYI, if any newcomers RSVP at this point I will not have time to talk with you via Skype or in person prior to the ritual. I am about to head to bed, and I'll be at a workshop all day tomorrow prior to the ritual. Newcomers are encouraged to RSVP for rituals later this month and then set up a time for us to chat :)
